During his career on the PGA Tour, Larry Nelson won 10 tournaments, including two PGA Championships (1981 and 1987) and the U.S. Open in 1983. Nelson, who served FCA by organizing and leading Bible studies on the PGA and Champions Tours throughout his career, also competed on three U.S. Ryder Cup teams during his career.

Nelson continued his professional success on the Champions Tour with 18 victories, ranking amongst the Top 10 on the Champions Tour Money List in 2003. A 2006 inductee into the World Golf Hall of Fame, Nelson gave his time to the FCA Golf Ministry working as a camp clinician, speaker and financial supporter since its inception in 1977.
